Kinect 6 feet

Microsoft went on the record to refute an assertion that Kinect would require about 13 feet between its user and their unit, but Amazon.com wants to buyers to allow for at least six feet of play space when they hook up their new devices later this year. As Destructoid points out, the official "Kinect Checklist" doesn't include such a demand, but an FAQ-style write-up on the site does.

Gears of War 3

You may have already developed strong feelings about "Gears of War 3" since the first trailer debuted and details about the game's Beast Mode and Ice-T's involvement surfaced. Sony was in town yesterday, basically showing off its E3 line-up. Nothing tremendously new, but I did get to spend some more in-depth time with the PlayStation Move. Sony had Anton Mikhailov, one of the software engineers working in R&D, showing off some scrappy developer-only minigames. They're never designed to be released to the public. Instead, their purpose is to show developers what sorts of possibilities the PlayStation Move offers. One of the minigames was a very raw representation of how an RTS might work with the PlayStation Move. You can watch Anton walk me through the demo in the video above. Maybe this is enough to show Blizzard that "StarCraft 2" could work on the PS3?

Scott Pilgrim

The final issue of the epic "Scott Pilgrim" series hit stores yesterday. The comic has always had a ton of video game references, and it takes just five pages for the first one in "Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour." Scott is seen, on his couch, playing a PSP Go. For a series that's always been extremely savvy about video games, it's a bit shocking that one of the more maligned hardware releases in recently years would be played by its hero. Are we starting to see the influence Sony has over "Scott Pilgrim" creator Bryan Lee O'Malley? After all, the "Scott Pilgrim" downloadable game is exclusive to PSN for two weeks before it comes to XBLA.

Ah, but if we read on, there's clearly no love lost between O'Malley and the PSP Go:

Scott Pilgrim

So basically Young Neil dumped the PSP Go on Scott...at a loss of $50. Not exactly resounding support for the device. Congrats O'Malley, your gamer rep comes through unstained.

(By the way, you should read "Scott Pilgrim." It's awesome. And the upcoming downloadable game doesn't appear too much bad in it, either.)

FPS Terminator

If the "Terminator Salvation" game left you wanting some more post-apocalyptic robot blasting, look no further than an unofficial project put together using the Unreal Engine 3.

"Set in the year 2029 you are placed in the boots a of soldier serving for humankind against the ruthless army of machines," the game's profile explains on ModDB.com. "The final campaign will feature nine chapters of a roller coaster ride, inspired by James Cameron's masterpiece franchise. Confront the many killing machines at skynet's disposal including the HK aerial, the HK tank, the mini HK, and the legendary T800 with an arsenal of futuristic plasma weapons."
