The latest update of "Plants vs. Zombies" on iPhone made a change to one of the most recognizable adversaries in the game. Since the game's launch in 2009, the Dancing Zombie has bared a striking resemblance to Michael Jackson in the "Thriller" music video, complete with red leather jacket, tight, too-short pants and white socks. That all changed with the latest update to "Plants vs. Zombies," as the Dancing Zombie is now disco themed. Why the change? Apparently PopCap heard from the lawyers of Michael Jackson's estate.

As many as 12,000 "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" players found themselves on the wrong end of a ban hammer recently via Steam. Unlike Blizzard's 320,000-account Battle.net ban spree in April, however, Valve's software targeted "MW2" players wrongly, which the company freely admits. In fact, they're restoring the banned accounts and even offering complimentary copies of "Left 4 Dead 2" as tokens of their regret.

Blizzard did something pretty unique with the release of "StarCraft 2." Usually members of the press get access to games early, allowing us to spend time with the title for several days or even a week before the game comes out. The benefit of this is that you guys have a well-researched review right on launch day. Blizzard didn't do that, though. Instead, they decided to unlock the game for everyone at the same exact time (last night at midnight), which means we're in the same boat you are. Blizzard's totally in their right to do this and, let's face it, if you're desperately searching for reviews on the day of release, you're probably just killing time at work until you can go home and play. "StarCraft 2" will sell a boatload, good reviews or no.
But, if you are looking for "StarCraft 2" reviews to help make your purchase decision, hold your horses for a few more days as we make our way through the campaign and spend time with the final iteration of multiplayer. Thanks for your patience!

UPDATE: Made some changes for launch day. Yes, "Star Craft 2" comes out today, so the only reason you should be reading this is if you're sitting at work, dying to play.
On the eve of the launch of "StarCraft 2," we realize there's a lot of information to digest. For example, ever wonder how many Zerglings or Templars it takes to make a Baneling or an Archon? Ever ponder what an Ultralisk will cost you or how many more minerals a MULE can collect? Wonder, ponder, and consider no more. Below is your "StarCraft 2" unit guide, complete with information on each unit's upgrades, costs, required buildings, and a short summary on what they're all about.

Update: The previous version of this post mis-identified "Warhammer: 40,000: Space Marine" as a first-person shooter. It is in fact a third-person shooter.
THQ's new third-person shooter "Warhammer: 40,000: Space Marine" was already announced for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but up until now PC users looked like they might be shut out of the fun. The publisher put those fears to rest today by welcoming Microsoft PC's to its list of platforms for the game, and they couldn't have sounded cheerier in the announcement.

It's always nice to breathe new life into games you already own, and Capcom's "Resident Evil 5" is going to get a nice jolt when PlayStation Move support is added by a patch, making it very close to the Wii installment of "Resident Evil 4." Unfortunately if you were a "Resident Evil 5" early adopter, you won't be seeing Move support anytime soon, as the patch will only apply to folks who purchased the "Gold Edition" of the game.

Things looked bleak for the "Gears of War" movie back in April when director Len Wiseman decided he wanted to focus on "Nocturne" and the film's script and budget reportedly got sent to the cutting room. Things haven't necessarily improved as far as all of that goes, but Epic Games design director Cliff Blesinski offered an update at Comic-Con International in San Diego and offered some insight into where things got off track.

You'll still need to have a disc to use Netflix on the PlayStation 3, but with Hulu muscling its way onto the PlayStation Network, Netflix has implemented one update that users should appreciate — searchability outside of individual user queues.

I know you college kids scoff at the Wii and its childlike nature. I know you think it's just for families, like those pictured above. And if you ask Nintendo, they'll tell you that "Wii Party" is most definitely not designed as a [soda] drinking video game. But damn if it isn't the best [soda] drinking video game ever. Yes, even better than "Photo Hunt."

It would be much easier to downplay rumors about "NBA Jam" going non-exclusive to the Wii if they didn't keep appearing. First, the implication appeared on a software engineer's LinkedIn profile. Then, Germany's software rating organization tagged the game for the Xbox 360. Now, non-exclusivity has scored a rumor hat trick (It's on fire), because the ESRB posted an E for Everyone rating for the game on the 360 and PlayStation 3.
