Blizzard hasn't released a new "Lost Vikings" game for consoles, but they do seem to have thrown in an homage to their long-unused franchise in a "StarCraft 2" Easter egg this week. Instead of featuring actual Vikings, an arcade machine called "The Lost Viking" sits on "SC2" star Jim Raynor's ship and offers players the chance to play a bird's-eye-view spaceship game.
Spotted and noted with some video over on IGN, "The Lost Viking" provides the means to take a break from regular gameplay without actually having to leave your computer.
I don't know if the machine takes coins or mineral deposits, but it looks like the kind of thing I would want in the corner of my cantina if I were trying to kick back between missions. It also makes me want to dive into the game further to see if there are any "Blackthorne" or "King's Quest" side games tucked away anywhere. Surprises like this always make release weeks more fun.
My copy of "SC2" just finished downloading this morning, though, so we'll see what awaits.
Have you found any Easter eggs in "SC2" yet? What do you think of the "Lost Viking" game? Share your opinions in the comment section below.
