'Star Wars: The Battle For Hoth' Celebrating 'The Empire Strikes Back' On iPhone

Posted 7/15/10 5:13 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in iPhone / iPad, News

Star Wars The Battle for Hoth

Getting licensing approval for new Star Wars games may be a challenging process to go through, but the spigot does not appear to be tightening on iPhone releases. THQ already had a sizable lineup of games in the App Store, but the 30th birthday of "The Empire Strikes Back" is upon us, so they decided to give "Star Wars: Cantina" and "Star Wars: Lightsaber Duel" a new neighbor by launching "Star Wars: The Battle for Hoth."

"Just in time for the 30th anniversary celebration of 'The Empire Strikes Back,' 'Star Wars: The Battle for Hoth' offers an exciting, strategic gaming experience for fans of the original Star Wars series,” THQ Wireless VP Adam Comiskey said in a press release.

The announcement doesn't say anything about whether or not you'll be required to pit two fighters against a Star Destroyer, but it looks like it will be primarily land based, so I wouldn't worry about it. As long as there's a tow cable to be found somewhere, no All Terrain Armored Transport should be too great a task to take down while you defend your shield generators.

Does your iPhone lack Star Wars games? What do you think of "The Battle for Hoth"? Share your responses in the comment section below.
