"The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword" faced a few technical challenges during its world premiere at E3, but Nintendo seems confident the game will make it out in fine condition for 2011. In fact, they're even saying "early 2011" when discussing its launch date.
"The basis we have now is very, very solid," 'Skyward Sword' producer Eiji Aonuma told ONM. "Early 2011 — that is what we're aiming for."
Whether or not we'll see Link flying or be able to play the game in an auditorium full of spectators using mobile devices remains to be seen, but short of a 2010 holiday release, early 2011 is probably the best news Zelda watchers could have hoped for.
Shigeru Miyamoto's demo last month indicated that "Skyward Sword" will be the first Zelda installment to feature a full range of sword swinging tied to Wii MotionPlus, but many of the visual elements and creatures looked like they'll be keeping the series' classic feel alive.
Depending on how soon Nintendo releases its next console, there is a chance that this could be Zelda's last hurrah on the Wii, so they'll presumably want to make it count. Between "Skyward Sword" and the 3DS, 2011 should be an interesting year to watch at the House of Mario.
