And you thought BioWare was just pulling your leg about the whole "Origins" subhead for "Dragon Age." Nope, it seems that the RPG aficionados are returning to the lands of demon blight with the aptly named "Dragon Age 2," and it may be less than a year away from release!
The game was first revealed as next month's issue of GameInformer. Since then a handy official site has popped up with some details and artwork from the sequel.
Listed as key features for the game:
* Embark upon an all-new adventure that takes place across an entire decade and shapes itself around every decision you make.
* Determine your rise to power from a destitute refugee to the revered champion of the land.
* Think like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of battle whether you are a mage, rogue, or warrior.
* Go deeper into the world of Dragon Age with an entirely new cinematic experience that grabs hold of you from the beginning and never lets go.
* Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style.
A new hero means players probably won't be transferring their character over from the first "Dragon Age," but considering all the work put in to "Mass Effect" on that front, I'd be shocked if BioWare doesn't reward veterans with some hot new gear.
Lastly, Kotaku noted that the box art for the game pictured on the official site mimics that of a pack-in for the last "Dragon Age" expansion pack which listed a February 1, 2011 date. At the time, the date didn't reference anything in particular, but now it seems like a likely candidate for the launch of "Dragon Age 2." Intriguing!
