'NBA Jam' Wii Exclusivity Called Into Question Again

Posted 7/7/10 3:26 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

NBA Jam

Nintendo clearly mentioned "NBA Jam" as a Wii-exclusive at E3 this year, but a rumor from a few months back that EA Sports might take it to other systems heated up again this week, thanks to a listing from Germany's software rating organization.

USK, the group responsible for rating German media, listed "NBA Jam" for the Xbox 360, according to Siliconera. If the information there is accurate, "Jam" for Xbox was approved mere days after "My Sims: Sky Heroes."

Back in February EA software engineer Andrea Schiel's LinkedIn profile was spotted by Superannuation with Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 all listed as platforms for the game, though her page has since been edited to reflect Wii exclusivity.

Both of these incidents could simply be mistakes, and coincidences occur all the time in the video game industry. Gamers are all too aware, however, that exclusive games are only exclusive until they aren't anymore, and coincidental mentions of non-Wii "NBA Jam" projects mean that this will be a "Wii exclusive" title to keep tabs on.

Would you like to see "NBA Jam" on the 360 or PS3? Do you think the Wii is the right home for the franchise's relaunch for now? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
