Ubisoft loves 3-D. They made the game counterpart to James Cameron's "Avatar" last year, and with a push for 3-D TV's and gaming already underway, they want to see more dimensions — not fewer — in the near future.
"We are working to offer the possibility of 3-D on most of our upcoming AAA titles, as we'd like to ensure that we are there for those consumers that begin putting new 3-D enabled televisions in their homes," Ubisoft managing director Rob Cooper told MCV, according to a report on VG247.

Despite getting their "Halo 2" Xbox Live support taken offline, longtime "Halo" and "Halo 2" players have seen a lot of love this year. First, those final "Halo 2" online players received "Halo: Reach" beta access. Now, Bungie has decided to bestow something special and shiny upon "Reach" players who have functional keys for "Halo: Combat Evolved" for PC.

EA continues to trot out the old school NBA stars for the upcoming release of "NBA JAM" on Wii (and other platforms, apparently). We had already revealed that Magic Johnson and Larry Bird will be appearing in the game, and now we can see six more additions to the "JAM" roster in action:

The talent competitions in previous Pokémon games may have all just been warm-ups for full-scale musical productions, judging from some Japanese TV footage that contains new venues and actual Pokémon from "Pokémon Black" and "White." The scenes, which appeared on the show "Oha Suta," up the ante with costumes and props, as well as a spotlight during Poké-performances.

UPDATE: Nope! Seems the list we have below is not going to pan out, as Famitsu is reporting that Silver Surfer has been confirmed for the game (thanks @evophile), and if one person on the list is missing, it's likely the rest of it is inaccurate, as well. Sorry, we got excited.
[SPOILER ALERT: If you're hoping to be surprised by the character roster in "Marvel vs. Capcom 3," you may want to stop reading now.]
We already knew who quite a few of the fighters in "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" were, and we've seen trailers of several of them in action. A leaked list may have filled in on the blanks, however, including Wolverine's petite femme counterpart X-23 and Mike Haggar of "Final Fight," among others.

UPDATE: Nintendo reached out to say that there was a mis-communication between their representative and Retro Studios. Retro clarified, saying that the mine cart level I mention below, "Rickety Rails," actually appears about midway through the game. That doesn't change how hard it is, but it may encourage those frightened by an insanely steep learning curve.
Original Story: About a year ago, I wrote about my experience playing through an early build of "New Super Mario Bros. Wii." I came away rather shocked and impressed by just how difficult the game was, comparing it to "Contra." Turns out "Donkey Kong Country Returns" is being built with the same mindset, as it's nothing short of punishingly difficult. And tremendously satisfying.

Yesterday I spoke briefly about the story of "Metroid: Other M" and its heavy focus on cutscenes. Apparently the final game will feature Theater Mode, which allows players to replay every cutscene, back to back, thus making a two-hour long, non-interactive movie.
Yoshio Sakamoto, the series creator, spoke with Famitsu (captured by 1UP) about many aspects of "Other M," including Theater Mode:

Activision has officially announced "Call of Duty: Black Ops" for the Nintendo DS, but they haven't yet revealed what their extra large console editions of the new game will look like on November 9. Thankfully, online retailer Buy.com has reportedly let the cat out of the bag about Hardened and Prestige editions of "Black Ops," though, giving reassurance to everyone who feels uncomfortable spending less than $80 on a Call of Duty title.

"StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty" is a daunting thing to review. Between the legacy of its 12-year-old predecessor as the greatest real-time strategy game of all time, the anticipation fueled by more than a decade of waiting for a follow-up and the incredible depth on offer in the now-released sequel… well… really, "daunting" becomes something of an understatement.
I'm not even going to try to review this for the hardcore fans. Any flaws in terms of the game's balance will undoubtedly be dissected in the coming weeks and subsequently patched by Blizzard's fastidious team of support technicians. Read this instead if you're curious about whether or not "StarCraft 2" delivers an enjoyable experience to the newcomer or the strategy hobbyist.

For the last 13 years, Haden Blackman has been neck deep in everything "Star Wars." Seriously, just look at his vast resume of projects. 35 separate "Star Wars" gigs, with much of that time focused on writing stories that would enter the canon of the world's most beloved sci fi franchise. Gamers best know him for his work on titles like "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" (and its forthcoming sequel) and the still-running "Star Wars: Galaxies." Blackman announced today that he'll be leaving LucasArts.
