Kinect

The Microsoft Store at Microsoft.com has now joined Amazon.com, Best Buy and Walmart in listing Kinect for $149.99, but if you think that means the price is official, think again, because as far as Microsoft's PR team is concerned $149.99 may just be shot-in-the-dark guess right now.

"We haven't announced a price for Kinect for Xbox 360," a Microsoft spokesperson told G4 when asked about the new listing.

DeathSpank

My love of action RPGs basically knows no bounds, and when you toss in the magical wit of a man named Ron Gilbert (of "Monkey Island" fame), you're dealing with something positively detrimental to my social schedule. Such is "DeathSpank," from Hothead Games, which is coming to XBLA and PSN in July.

Xbox Live Gold Family Plan

The big Microsoft E3 press conference this year foretold two big pushes that are going to come to the Xbox 360 along with Kinect. The first of those is programming via ESPN, and Hulu is rumored to be right behind. The second tone you couldn't help but pick up on was the family-friendly nature of Kinect's launch titles, which look a lot like games found in the avatar-powered, motion-based Wii marketplace. Now, Microsoft has announced plans to expand their Xbox Live Gold subscription options to include a $99.99 Family Plan, and if you live in an Xbox household with three or more members, you may want to check this out.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

E3 was certainly very sequel-heavy this year, but I couldn't help but be impressed with what Ubisoft Montreal is doing for "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood." Apart from the standard story-based missions, they've layered in strategy and city-building elements to make the experience even more well-rounded than the already-excellent "Assassin's Creed 2." But even with these changes, there are certain aspects that will remain true to form for the franchise. A mind-f*** of an ending, for example.

Solid Snake

Director John Carpenter is contributing to "F.E.A.R. 3," but it turns out that he also offered support for Hideo Kojima in the Metal Gear Solid series. Carpenter introduced Kurt Russell's character Snake Plissken to the world in his 1981 film "Escape from New York," and Kojima reportedly reached out to him for approval, since the leading man in Metal Gear's name is Solid Snake.

Transformers: War for Cybertron

Hasbro's "Transformers" are a big deal right now. It's like the '80s all over again, except the graphics are much, much better. Prime time then for gamers to take a jaunt across Cybertron, first overthrowing the filthy Autobot overlords and then beating back the vile Decepticon usurpers. That's exactly what players are tasked with doing in "Transformers: War for Cybertron," the latest effort from "The Bourne Conspiracy" developer High Moon Studios.

3DS remakes

Microsoft announced a new, slimmer Xbox 360 at the end of their E3 keynote, and that means that its bulkier units who still display the red ring of death when they die are selling for significantly less.

Arcade bundles have vacated the $199 mark to make way for their small, black successor and now retail for $149.99, as you can see on Amazon.com and at Best Buy. Elites, meanwhile, have taken a step down to $249.99.

If you're looking to load up on EA franchise titles, now would be the time to make your move. The following titles have been price-dropped:

Sonic 4 mine cart controvery

"Sonic the Hedgehog 4" came up against some biting criticism from longtime players when glimpses of the game first came out. Some even called for a boycott in favor buying "Sonic 1/2." Visions of a tilt-controlled mine cart in particular ruffled the feathers of a few onlookers, and Sega now admits that they've taken notice.

Crackdown 2

I wasn't convinced of the genius of the original "Crackdown" until I spent 3 or 4 hours playing and replaying the demo that launched a few weeks before the final game. Once I had maxed out my character and began leaping from building to building with ease, I understood the magic of the sandbox shooter. Microsoft must've realize the success of the first demo, as they've gone and released a demo for "Crackdown 2" with extra doodads thrown in for good measure. It's up on Xbox Live right now, available to Gold members.
