Whether Visceral Games decides to call it "Dante's Inferno 2," "Purgatorio" or something else altogether, the chances of a "Dante's Inferno" sequel got a bit more promising this week. An opening has materialized at Visceral for a lead level designer, and the game EA wants that new recruit to work on sounds suspiciously like it could be an "Inferno" follow-up.
"This project is the sequel to a major new IP at the award-winning Visceral Games, creators of Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno," the job posting reads on Jobs.EA.com.
Experience working with single-player levels, an artistic background and an interest in cinema are all part of the package EA is looking to track down for the new sequel, which they would like to see "set new quality standards and make the franchise the world-leader in the action/melee-combat genre."
I don't see another "Godfather" or "Dead Space" game necessarily fitting into that description very easily, which makes their "Dante" franchise the leading candidate. Assuming that's what this is, we probably have a long wait before any kind of official acknowledgement comes out, let alone a title. Nonetheless, it appears that the gears may be in motion.
