With a line-up of titles including a Kinect "Star Wars" game, "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2" and "Star Wars: The Old Republic" launching in the near future, it would be easy to assume that LucasArts is getting free-spirited with its approvals and budgets on the IP's titles. That isn't the case according to "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2" exec producer Haden Blackman, who was asked if things got easier putting together his upcoming sequel.
"No, it hasn't made it easier but it hasn't made it harder," Blackman told CVG. "It's a difficult business and we have to always be cognisant of cost and team size and whatnot so we have to be able to come in with a solid argument for it."
Their argument was solid enough, evidently. Blackman said the most difficult part in "The Force Unleashed 2" came not when it was pitched, but when they were deciding what it would look like.
"It wasn't hard to argue for a sequel but what we we're going to do, how we were going to approach it and the work we were going to do on the engine — those were definitely discussions we had to have."
Budgets and resource allocations are an issue at any company, but still, it's good to know that they're working hard behind the scenes.
