More Transformers Games Possible From Activision And Hasbro

Posted 6/29/10 6:05 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News

Transformers games

"Transformers: War for Cybertron" reactions were definitely not universally bad. The game has its weakness, but it turned out to be a big enough success that Activision and Hasbro could push forward with a follow-up or two.

Both companies are currently "talking" about their plans, according to a panel report from BotCon 2010 over on TFormers.com.

Hasbro designer Aaron Archer reportedly said that his company is considering brand expansion opportunities right now and that future games could explore genres other than shooters. His wish for "Twisted Metal: Transformers" may fall a bit outside of Hasbro's established approaches to the Robots in Disguise, but it sounds like they're keeping their options open.

Archer did say that "War for Cybertron" "presents opportunity," though, so more releases down the pipe sound like good bets. Furthermore, this is Transformers that we're talking about here, so unless a dramatic plague-like event wipes out every child of the '80s, don't be surprised to see another TF game show up sometime and somewhere, be it from Activision or anyone else.

What did you think of "War for Cybertron"? Are there any genres that you'd like to see Hasbro and/or Activision explore with them? Share your hopes in the comment section below.
