The New Force Powers Of 'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2'

Posted 6/15/10 8:00 pm EST by Matt Clark in e3, News, PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

The Force Unleashed 2

Fans of LucasArts' "The Force Unleashed" can expect some new abilities and gameplay improvements when the sequel launches on October 26th. During an E3 demo, the developers revealed a couple of new abilities they hope will lure gamers back to control Vader's betrayed apprentice.

Who doesn't secretly want to have Jedi mind powers? New to the franchise is the "Mind Trick" force ability. If there's a pesky storm trooper blocking your path, pull an Obi Wan and take control of his mind. After the power is utilized, the enemy will now fight as your ally. The new partner-in-crime will continue to fight for your cause until he's killed.

Secondly, is the visually impressive "Force Fury". Essentially a rage or overkill ability, Force Fury heightens Starkiller's current force powers. During the demo, a group of AT-ST's had the player pinned down on a bridge. Starkiller glowed a fiery blue -- a visual cue that the Force Fury ability is charged. The player made quick work of the AT-ST's, gripping them and then literally crushing them into a ball.

Beyond these new force abilities, LucasArts has promised fluid dual-saber combat, an improved targeting system, and game pacing that incorporates more puzzles between combat sequences.

"Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" releases on October 26th, 2010.
