'Dead Rising 2' Grabs A Playboy Subscription

Posted 6/11/10 2:00 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

Dead Rising 2 Playboy

Forget the iPad, Kindle and Nook. The future of the print magazine industry has found a new platform to cling to in "Dead Rising 2." Capcom and Playboy have announced that in addition to lots of duct tape their new zombie-laden sequel will sport appearances by Playboy Bunnies and magazines.

"The Sin City-type environment in 'Dead Rising 2,' Fortune City, is a natural playground for the Playboy Bunnies," Capcom Entertainment senior director of licensing Seon King said in a press release. "We have integrated the Playboy brand throughout the game in ways that bring even more life to Fortune City and add to the user experience."

Motocross champion and "Dead Rising 2" star Chuck Greene will be exposed to Playboy and other publications, according to the announcement, which promises a "new magazine system" for the game. Picking up stray issues along the way will provide useful bonuses for his adventures.

The release doesn't mention anything about NSFW content showing up, so my guess would be that they're going to keep spreads and photo features out of the game, but you do have to wonder what "content from the iconic publication" will be allowed without unnecessarily upping the ESRB's rating.

What other magazines would you like to see appear in "Dead Rising 2"? What covers do you want Capcom to use? Share your reactions in the comment section below.
