In light of the recent insanity over a potential "Mortal Kombat" movie, it seems like a perfect time to reveal the next installment of the "Mortal Kombat" franchise. You can check out the "Mortal Kombat" game trailer up top.
There's a lot to take note of in the trailer. Most notable is the 2D perspective of the game. For nearly a decade, Midway has been releasing "Mortal Kombat" games set in 3D arenas, but it looks like this new game will be a return to form. The character models and environments are in 3D, but all the gameplay seems limited to side-scrolling style, just like "Street Fighter 4."
Also, as expected, the violence is back in a big way. Chopping guys in half with giant hat blades? You bet!
The trailer features the following returning faces, with more sure to be revealed:
Raiden
Shao Kahn
Johnny Cage
Reptile
Kitana
Kung Lao
Sektor
Nightwolf
Sub-Zero
