Rockstar Games Skipping Out On E3 2010

Posted 6/1/10 10:30 am EST by Brian Warmoth in News

Rockstar E3 plans

Analysts expecting to see "Grand Theft Auto 5" at E3 this year may have spoken prematurely. In fact, Rockstar Games will reportedly have no "presence" at all at E3 this year, which definitely means no "L.A. Noire" or "Max Payne 3" and probably indicates that any new reveals have been pushed as well.

"L.A. Noire" and "Max Payne 3" will appear at a later date outside of the Los Angeles show, according to a Rockstar representative speaking to VG247. The spokesperson also confirmed that Rockstar would not have a "presence" there.

Jesse Divinch won't be the only one surprised to hear this news. Unsubstantiated leaks have been stirring rumors about a game called "Grand Theft Auto 5: Vice," which may be neither confirmed nor denied at E3 now.

Rockstar, meanwhile, blamed time restrictions for the exit.

"In the end, we feel we simply don't have enough time to show as much as we would like in the time available," a company rep told CVG.

Looking at that response, I'm not sure if Rockstar means that the two weeks left before E3 starts won't be enough time to prepare everything or if they mean E3 itself is too short. That's probably a moot point, though, since in the end all everyone is going to care about is that E3 won't have any new Rockstar games on display.

Are you disappointed to hear that Rockstar won't have any big E3 announcements? What were you hoping to see? Share your reactions in the comment section below.
