Sadly, "Eclipse: The 8-Bit Interactive Game" is not yet available for the iPhone. A few new launches from GameHouse, however, have made it to the App Store, and "The Twilight Saga: Memory Quest" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Movie Game" are among them.

"StarCraft 2" playtime may not be the only thing Blizzard decides to give away to "World of Warcraft" participants down the road. An annual report from Activision earlier this year touched on hypothetical circumstances wherein "WoW" might become obsolete, so it makes sense that the game's makers might be open to a free-to-play model in the future.

Square Enix announced their closed alpha test for "Final Fantasy XIV" a few months ago, and they brought the title along to E3, but up until now they haven't been firm on a release date. September 30 is now the date to remember for PC, however, and a TBA date in early March of 2011 will be planned for the PlayStation 3.

Yesterday I posted all of the nominees for the annual Game Critics: Best of E3 awards, a list created from the hive mind of 30 different publications. Today I mailed in my picks for each category, culled from the minds at MTV News who attended the show with me. Since the list of nominations closely matched what we thought were best at this year's E3, it really wasn't too difficult. So here we go!

In November of 2000 Nintendo published "Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth," a niche, sci-fi shooter by famed development studio Treasure for the N64. While it may have had moderate success in Japan, it developed a cult following around the globe and took almost seven years and two platform cycles to see a release in the States, but in 2007 the Virtual Console became the home to the re-release of one of the most sought after imports for the N64. Based on the popularity of the now readily available download, Nintendo went back to the well (much like it is doing with almost all of its classic properties) and had Treasure develop a sequel, and thus "Sin and Punishment: Star Successor" was born.

Whether Visceral Games decides to call it "Dante's Inferno 2," "Purgatorio" or something else altogether, the chances of a "Dante's Inferno" sequel got a bit more promising this week. An opening has materialized at Visceral for a lead level designer, and the game EA wants that new recruit to work on sounds suspiciously like it could be an "Inferno" follow-up.

When Nintendo ran through their marathon list of third-party developers and game titles for the 3DS at E3, THQ and "Saint's Row" both appeared on the screen, but details on what the game would be like weren't readily available. The game has been confirmed now, however, and its nature offers some new insights into the feasibility of releasing games in 3-D for Xbox Live and bringing them over to Nintendo's new portable platform.

"Crackdown 2" comes out next week, but since the demo on Xbox Live offers up most of the game's major features (just with a 30-minute time limit), it's a great way to get prepped for the real thing. Now you can focus on earning demo achievements or clearing out freak lairs if you really want. But why bother when you can drive your friends crazy? As it turns out, "Crackdown 2" is one of the best games for griefing ever made, giving you the chance to screw your friends over at every turn. And here's five great ways to do that!

"Transformers: War for Cybertron" reactions were definitely not universally bad. The game has its weakness, but it turned out to be a big enough success that Activision and Hasbro could push forward with a follow-up or two.
Both companies are currently "talking" about their plans, according to a panel report from BotCon 2010 over on TFormers.com.

With a line-up of titles including a Kinect "Star Wars" game, "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2" and "Star Wars: The Old Republic" launching in the near future, it would be easy to assume that LucasArts is getting free-spirited with its approvals and budgets on the IP's titles. That isn't the case according to "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2" exec producer Haden Blackman, who was asked if things got easier putting together his upcoming sequel.
