Call of Duty: Black Ops

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has made no secret about his love for Call of Duty games. His Gamertag is Estaban 85, and he's been captured on video tearing it up at "Modern Warfare 2." He wants to be among the first to play "Black Ops," though, and he's making offers for such a chance before the game comes to retailers.

Convoy

Over the last week I've been out in LA attending an annual event known as pre-E3. It's a strange week, but I'll try to break down the basic concept for you.

Everyone knows E3, the year's biggest gaming event which takes place over the course of a week in June. Well, pre-E3 is preparation for that. Considering the limited amount of time during the show proper, there's simply no way for journalists to see every game during E3, so game publishers come together for one week to show off their wares during a time that's not quite so time-constrained.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels Of The Starry Sky Logo

"Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Sky" is on it's way to Europe and the US in July, exclusively for the Nintendo DS. After nearly a year of waiting for a release date after the game sold well in Japan, fans from the rest of the world can finally let out a sigh of relief.

LittleBigPlanet 2

"Fable 3" won't be the only game to catch Stephen Fry in in the relatively near future. Now that "LittleBigPlanet 2" has been officially announced, SCEA and Media Molecule are ready to start separating facts from rumors, and one of the first items of business in their FAQ was to establish that the "Fish Called Wanda" actor is indeed returning to narrate their sequel.

Pac-Man Reborn

So "Pac-Man Championship Edition" and whatever Avi Arad is announcing at E3 are about to get a lot more company in the Pac-universe. I haven't wrapped my mind around how it will be possible to play a Pac-game on Twitter yet, but that's one of the services "Pac-Man Reborn" will reportedly provide.

"Reborn" has just been announced for Twitter, iPhone and other mobile devices in Japan, according to a post on Siliconera. Beta testing will apparently begin this week, and after that, over 300 customizations will hit the fan as widespread gobbling commences in the largest demolition derby of tiny pie charts ever seen — or so I presume from the limited information provided.

Mass Effect 2 DLC

"Mass Effect 2" DLC packs are nothing new. We already know about "Firewalker" and "Kasumi's Stolen Memory," and BioWare has made no secret of the fact that they want a sustained flow for the near future. The company is becoming a little more articulate now, however, about the role they want DLC to play as an announcement for "Mass Effect 3" draws closer.

Virgin games announcement

Virgin used to be a big name in games back during the 16-bit console and CD-ROM era. Richard Branson reportedly wants to open up a new front in the industry for his company, though, and the details are being locked and loaded for an expected E3 presentation. In addition to describing the service, which is expected to pilot a new format for online competition on major consoles and PC, Virgin will be collecting partnerships with publishers and content owners.

The new system will be "online-only and again challenge-based, possibly built on a technology acquisition," according to the report on MCV.

Red Dead Redemption

"Red Dead Redemption" starts out by dumping you in New Austin with a bullet in your gut and no idea really of where to go. Local rancher Bonnie MacFarlane shows you compassion in saving your life, but that doesn't change the fact that you're penniless. You've got a gun and a horse, but you've left that outlaw life behind. John Marston kills only out of necessity these days, and he's okay with that.

Unfortunately, that new-found kindness of your is going to be a real problem when it comes to eking out a living in the tough New Austin landscape. You can't rob folks, nor can you kill them and loot the bodies. Have no fear, stranger-- there are other ways to make money on the frontier. The best option is to live off the land around you. You have all of those bullets and you can't use them on people. But there's no dishonor in whittling away at the local animal population!

UFC Undisputed 2010

Ubisoft wants an online pass system similar the one EA Sports put together for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11," but right now they're only talking about implementing it sometime down the road. THQ like the idea of charging secondhand game buyers to play online so much that they've decided to launch their own $5 pass system next week with "UFC Undisputed 2010."

Playdom Website

It's easy to get confused here, as the most famous Acclaim in the gaming industry is the now defunct Acclaim Entertainment, who were behind monster hits such as "Mortal Kombat," "The Simpsons" and even the titillating "BMX XXX." Playdom have instead purchased Acclaim Games, the publisher of MMO and social games that just so happened to buy the Acclaim Entertainment logo when they went bust in 2004.
