You won't get all of the tracks from "Green Day: Rock Band" in the demo that recently became available on Xbox Live, but you will get a provocative teaser image when you end your jam sessions. The "Rock Band 3" screen that appears includes a row of unsurprising icons like harmony-indicative microphones, two guitars and drums, but those veteran instruments are punctuated by some piano keys, which should have all the wannabe Elton Johns and Ray Manzareks out there very eager to see which bands are represented in the new game.

"Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars" experienced disappointing sales when it came to the Nintendo DS, but Rockstar North doesn't appear to have given up on the portable platform. In fact, job listings posted by the studio indicate that they still need physics-savvy developers to help out on Wii, DS and PSP projects. There's no way to know at this point if either of the two new recruits will be working on a GTA game, but with a prominent analyst predicting "Grand Theft Auto 5" at E3 in June, such scenarios are worth contemplating.

Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull and "Spider-Man" producer Avi Arad went on the record recently to say that video game movies are the next big thing, and a "Mass Effect" movie announcement this week reaffirmed that position. BioWare has compared their game trilogy to "Star Wars," and now it looks like they'll get a chance to see how the stories stack up in theaters.

American Idol's ratings may be slowly drying up, and Simon Cowell may be packing his bags, but that hasn't stopped the release of a brand new game based on the series.
The game in question is "American Idol Star Experience"; a downloadable PC game that allows players to create an avatar, choose a song, and then have a say in choreography, stage lighting and special effects. Once the show has been put together, players can upload it to their Facebook page so that they're friends can act as those snarly judges.

EA believes "Crysis 2" will be a "Halo-killer," and with such faith in the franchise, it comes as no surprise that they would like to see it flourish. Whether multiple Crysis games will need to be called "Cryses" or "Crysises" is a debate to be had later, but when EA Partners boss David DeMartini was asked if "Crysis 3" and even "4" or "5" were titles EA would want to publish in the future, he responded affirmatively.

Though many expected to see the PlayStation Move out by this spring, Sony's last official comment pushed the motion-sensitive device back to fall 2010. Now, a South African retailer seems to believe they'll have the controller in stock to sell by July — or at least that's what their flyer states.

With a big-screen, big-budget movie adaptation of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" hitting theaters this Friday, you can be forgiven for thinking that Ubisoft's "Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands" ties to that. That's not the case however. "Forgotten Sands" is actually an interquel, set between the events of the 2003 game, also titled "Sands of Time," and its 2004 sequel, "Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within." As the events of the story unfold, we get a glimpse of how the lighthearted hero of the first game turned into the dark, brooding emo dude of the second.

Just because "Killzone 2" won't be getting 3-D support, don't expect Sony to hold back on "Killzone 3," which Sony America CEO Jack Tretton promised back in March. The new sequel has now been formally announced, and stereoscopic 3-D is part of the plan.
