First, someone predicted a $50 price tag for Project Natal. Then, a Swedish ad for about $200 showed up this month. Now, a new report says that Microsoft's roll-out will consist of an October launch with the price set at $149.
"Microsoft expects to sell millions and millions of Natal units in its first year on the market so you can expect the software launch line-up to target non-traditional gamers," an anonymous source told Edge. "A major marketing campaign will also play a key role in attracting and educating the expanded audience about Xbox 360's controller-free revolution."
The informant also mentioned an Xbox 360 Arcade bundled with Natal for $299. Surely, when Microsoft announces Natal's real name, which they are expected to do at E3, some more transparent perspectives will emerge as well. Right now, however, October 26 looks like the maybe/could-happen date to scratch onto your calendar with a grain salt close by.
Microsoft, of course, neither confirmed nor denied any of these details, but keep stay tuned when they take the stage at E3. It is, after all, in their best interests to let you know as much as possible at that point.
Do you think $149 is a fair price to ask for Project Natal? What kind of name would you like to see the control system get? Share your responses in the comment section below.
