Ubisoft's ambitious DLC plans for "Splinter Cell: Conviction" haven't deterred them from getting started on the Tom Clancy series' next iteration, and the franchise will reportedly be shifting from Ubisoft Montreal to Jade Raymond's Ubisoft Toronto studio.
Ubisoft said that Toronto would be taking on the role of lead developer on the yet-to-be-titled sequel, according to a report on GameSpot. No window for a release or other details came with that confirmation, but the studio expects to expand from 40 employees to 800 in the next decade.
Without knowing the full details, it's probably safe to speculate that the move to Toronto will allow Montreal to concentrate on "Conviction" DLC while Ubi gets a focused early start on their new title. With any luck, that will help them to avoid the protracted series of delays that affected their most recent effort.
News-watchers will allows notice that with "H.A.W.X. 2" and the next Splinter Cell game officially in development, it looks like we can now declare the case of the case of the two mystery Tom Clancy games to be closed.
