Just because "Killzone 2" won't be getting 3-D support, don't expect Sony to hold back on "Killzone 3," which Sony America CEO Jack Tretton promised back in March. The new sequel has now been formally announced, and stereoscopic 3-D is part of the plan.
"Killzone 3" will pick up on the PlayStation 3 where "Killzone 2" left off, according to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's press release. "With levels ten times bigger than in Killzone 2, this is Helghan like you've never seen it before," the announcement claims.
SCEE says they'll be adding 3-D as well as bigger, badder enemies from "Jetpack troopers to enemies wielding portable weapons of mass destruction," and they'll be equipped with "new toys" for their latest outing.
Further details were purportedly leaked on the GameSpot forums, where someone claims to have gotten a hold of a new issue of GamePro. 3-D was mentioned in there, along with snow levels, boasting about jetpack controls better than previous games have achieved and similar combat to previous Killzone titles. IGN's advance look at "Killzone 3" seems to corroborate these claims and speaks of new rocket launcher technology to boot.
