Ubisoft wants an online pass system similar the one EA Sports put together for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11," but right now they're only talking about implementing it sometime down the road. THQ like the idea of charging secondhand game buyers to play online so much that they've decided to launch their own $5 pass system next week with "UFC Undisputed 2010."
"The main enhancement of 'UFC Undisputed 2010''s premium online content is the new 'Fight Camp Mode' in which players can assemble ranks of up to 40 people and train together," THQ said in an official statement posted on Destructoid. "This is a significant value-add to the game as players can continually improve their skills by training with their friends and bringing teams of MMA specialists together."
As for the pass, they addressed that part of the the plan too.
"This multiplayer content for UFC Undisputed 2010 will be available via a one-time code included with the game at purchase," THQ explained. "Codes for accessing the content will be available for second-time buyers for an additional $5."
EA's move has officially become a trend in the game industry as of right now. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a few more models like this show up before we're done with E3 in a few weeks.
Who do you think will be the next publisher to start charging used game buyers to play online? Do you think THQ's $5 for a code is fair? Sound off in the comment section below.
