Jake Gyllenhaal will be introducing the Prince of Persia IP to a whole new audience when "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" hits theaters at the end of May, and Ubisoft has a new game ready to accompany him with "Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands." They apparently have a new iPhone and iPod touch port of "Prince of Persia Classic" ready as well, however. The game will require some size and control retooling, but console gamers should recognize the name from Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
Ubisoft announced the newish "Prince" title as a part of their release schedule for April to June 2010, according to a report by G4. A specific launch date didn't appear, but that's often the way things roll with the App Store.
The simple play control and game concept should be a fine match for Apple's platform. It will hopefully also be priced as a better value than the $1.99 "Prince of Persia Quiz" that I currently see listed in the App Store. I'm sure there's a market out there for that somewhere, but "Prince of Persia Classic" seems like a much easier sell.
