EA Sports already has an active FIFA presence on Facebook, and while they're still figuring out Natal and Move integration on consoles, they sound like they have the social networking behemoth all figured out for their new title "FIFA Superstars."
"Our FIFA products connect fans from all over the world who share a common passion for the sport, and soon our partnership with Playfish will allow us to bring the FIFA brand to the growing Facebook community with a new game called 'FIFA Superstars,'" EA Sports president Peter Moore wrote on his blog at EASports.com.
Moore slipped the announcement in at the end of an average rundown of recent real-world soccer events that he posted last Friday. The new game should be anything but average, though, if he succeeds in reaching the number of fans he claims are out there.
"Leveraging our football gaming knowledge and marrying it with the social gaming expertise of our partners at Playfish is sure to provide more great opportunities to bring hundreds of millions of new fans to compete against their friends to win the FIFA World Cup through an engaging interactive football experience," he explained.
If that's how popular "FIFA Superstars" turns out to be, "FarmVille" better start watching its back, because its territory on Facebook is about to get trampled by some football hooligans.
