It's too early to say whether the forthcoming "Prince of Persia" movie will be another hide-your-head-in-shame video game movie or an actually enjoyable romp. At the very least, the film's trailers seem to imply that it'll remain true to the series, complete with wall-running, magic daggers and sand. Lots of sand.

New title development activity on the "Oddworld" front may be about as silent as the series' protagonist Abe right now, but anyone who really wants a Mudokon fix should be able to relive some past adventures on Steam by the end of the year. Previously, there had been rumblings that a new game might be in the works, but if there is, the series' creator Lorne Lanning says it's not something that's going to show up in the near future.

It took Capcom a couple of years to capitalize on the success of "Street Fighter 4," but that capitalization is finally on the cusp of arrival. This week "Super Street Fighter 4," the once-update turned full retail package drops in stores. Of course the experts will gobble this up -- but should you?

Based on the recently released "Toy Soldiers" Xbox Live Arcade game, "Match Defense: Toy Soldiers" has landed on the hallowed shores of Facebook, ready to invade millions of casual gamers' free time across the globe.
The Xbox Live release has been hailed as one of the best tower defense games available in recent years, but may have put many off due to its emphasis on strategy and forward-thinking. Players were tasked with placing and taking control of an army's most powerful weaponry, aiming to eliminate the incoming threat before it overran their base. It certainly was difficult, and rewarded those who put the time in, so this Facebook release will be a pleasure to those who prefer things a little more casual.

With the "Kick-Ass" iPhone game receiving many unsavory reviews, developers Frozen Codebase have admitted what they released last weekend was actually the beta version. Players complained about its difficulty and the feeling that it was generally unfinished, and this suicidal revelation may explain why.

Gamers from around the world should be able to play "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" with a little less lag now, as a new fix has been applied to the game's matchmaking system. It doesn't sound like you'll log on and see anything fundamentally different about the "MW2" multiplayer experience, but if you've had problems with lag due to matches spanning a couple of continents, this update to the process should help you out a bit.

Rocksteady Studios, who is now owned by Warner Bros., wants to make a "Batman: Arkham Asylum" sequel. They also appear to have more plans for the series' first installment and are looking for skilled workers to help them out with that effort.
"Want to work on DLC for Batman: Arkham Asylum in London? Drop [us] a line," a message sent out by Rocksteady's recruitment agent read, according to CVG. The studio posted an ad back in February announcing their search for a new lead artist, the report states. So you better believe Rocksteady is going to be hard at work with Batman for now while WB's new Montreal offices get set to tackle other DC Comics properties.

In another life perhaps Adon would have been a poet who focused his beautiful words on large cats and sharp stabby things. Lucky for us this former "Street Fighter Alpha 3" combatant and new entrant in "Super Street Fighter 4" decided to hone his calves instead of sharpen his quill. We wouldn't have much to break down otherwise.

Gamers are hard at work beta-testing "StarCraft 2" right now, but the game's developers a have much more pressing assignment to get their sequel out on time this summer for Blizzard. The good news is that they seem to be on track — at least that's the word from inside. The better news is that they're looking ahead to the first expansion pack as well.
"We're still targeting a mid-year release. We're doing everything we can," "SC2" lead producer Chris Sigaty told Shacknews. "I was here all weekend along with a bunch of other people. We're trying to get done as soon as possible."

DJ Qbert and David Guetta have already been named as potential contributors to "DJ Hero 2," and Activision has confirmed the project's existence. Now, DJ Shadow has put himself on the list as well. Asked about his experience working on the first game, the DJ, whose real name is Joshua Davis, responded with some info about the sequel.
"It was interesting," Shadow said in an interview with Radio One presenter Zane Lowe. "I'm actually working on the next one as well. But yeah, it was a trip."
