The UK's largest independent games company, Jagex, have announced that RuneFest 2010 will play host to the first-ever Golden Gnome Awards. Celebrating the dedication of many "RuneScape" players, the ceremony will recognize the best video making talent in the community.
RuneFest 2010 will take place on Saturday 28 August 2010 and will be held in London, at a yet to be announced venue.

Earlier this week Facebook announced it would be introducing a credits system to its online games in June. This will allow players to buy virtual goods in order to gain an advantage over the competition. Hardly revolutionary, this decision has been hounded by rival online game companies, most specifically, Jambool.

Polaroid surprised the Consumer Electronics Show this year by announcing a partnership with Lady Gaga as the former instant photo leader's new creative director. Now, it looks like they want to surprise gamers with a new line of accessories for consoles and handheld systems.

"The Sims 3" already stormed through the PC, Mac and iPhone arenas in 2009, becoming the top-seller for PC in North America and Europe. This fall, the franchise will make a stab at the console market as well, plugging in a few new features on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo DS. Such additions will include shareable user-created content on the 360 and PS3, a new beach town and "Life Moments" mode on the Wii and stylus face-sculpting on the DS.

By now you probably know that the "Halo: Reach" beta will be available for download on May 3rd, presuming you purchased and still own your copy of "Halo 3: ODST." What you may not know is that Bungie is letting a handful of folks into the beta this Thursday (the 29th) as a sort of "soft launch," and we'll be among that group. And while Bungie is handing out codes for early access on the 29th, not everyone will be lucky enough to snag one of those codes.
We can, however, offer the next best thing to playing the "Halo: Reach" beta: Watching me play the "Halo: Reach" beta! This Thursday we'll be hosting a live stream of straight gameplay from the beta at 4PM EST, so be sure to tune in to MTV Multiplayer and experience the beta second-hand. I'll be playing and giving hilarious commentary, so don't miss it.

The Mega Man universe has only expanded in recent years, with Capcom issuing new 8-bit-style sequels in "Mega Man 9" and "Mega Man 10." A new trademark in the U.S. makes it look like they either have a brand new Mega Man game in development or they just want to make sure that phrase always gets capitalized as "Mega Man Universe."

For those who have been missing out on some Wu-Tang Clan in their gaming diet lately, headlining member RZA leaked his involvement in a new Activision project last Friday. The living hip-hop legend didn't cite a title, but informed bets can anticipate seeing him in "DJ Hero 2," where DJ Shadow, David Guetta and DJ Qbert may already be waiting.
"Just finished mocap work at Activision," he wrote on his Twitter account, "great team of guys who really appreciate hip-hop."

Original Story: "Picross" isn't the most thrilling video game franchise, but it does have a large stable of fans who appreciate the logic and reasoning required to carve a doggie out of a bunch of blocks. "Picross 3D" ups the ante, adding depth to the formula.
Newcomers walking into a store and seeing "Picross 3D" on the shelf aren't likely to have any idea what the game is about, so Nintendo has come up with a nice work-around: Stick the tutorial right on the package!

"Super Mario Sunshine" doesn't exactly stand up in the pantheon of great Mario games, but the developers of "Super Mario Galaxy 2" have taken one element from that game and made it their own.
Yes, Shadow Mario is back. Actually, Shadow Marios may be more accurate.

THQ and Syfy announced a partnership in February that would relaunch "De Blob" in a kid-friendly initiative, but they'll be tackling some distinctly more mature projects as well, including made-for-TV "Red Faction" movie. The new deal came to light this week and includes a two-hour movie that both parties hope will serve as a "back-door pilot," "Battlestar Galactica"-style.
