Halo 2

Microsoft ended Xbox Live support for "Halo 2" earlier this month, but some of the connections that the cancelled service forged continue to hang on for dear life. In an act that should bring a tear to the eye of any longtime console FPS fan, a gathering of players claim to have left their boxes on and not yet suffered an interruption in gameplay.

Tom Clancy

Weekly DLC should keep Ubisoft busy with "Splinter Cell: Conviction" for a while going forward, but they have at least two more Tom Clancy games in works behind closed doors. The titles remain guarded secrets, but the revelation means Ubisoft could have a big question mark above its Clancy lineup going into E3.

Halo Reach

Hoping to get an early glimpse at the next "Halo" game? You'd better hurry. The much-anticipated "Halo: Reach" beta is coming on May 3rd, but it won't be here for long. Microsoft announced today that the beta will run from May 3rd through May 19th, which works out to about two and a half weeks. Comparatively, the "Halo 3" beta lasted a bit longer than that, running from May 16th to June 6th.

Microsoft also revealed that over the course of those two and a half weeks, the different modes featured in the beta will slowly be rolled out and tested:

Red Steel 2

Some words could very well be lost in translation, and the he Institut de France may or may not recognize the terms "Red Steel 3" and "Vitality Sensor." Nevertheless, a French report clearly associates the two unreleased and dubiously existent products with one another, and they are now a potential couple. Where the series might go after "Red Steel 2" and how the unannounced slash'n shoot sequel would make use of Nintendo's finger ornament demands further speculation, but someone in command of the French language believes they may appear together one day.

Infinity Ward Lawsuit

The aftermath of Jason West and Vince Zampella's departure from Infinity Ward kicked off a chain reaction of accusations and lawsuits regarding "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2"-linked bonuses and insubordination. The developing story gained one more lawsuit yesterday, as 38 current and former Infinity Ward employees filed their grievances in the Los Angeles Superior Court as the Infinity Ward Employee Group. Unsurprisingly, the amount of money they're seeking is substantial.

The Lookouts

The Cub Scouts have finally realized that making new belt holes and helping the elderly across the street are skills that simply don't apply to the modern age we live in. To that end, they've added new video game belt loops and pins to their list of earnable awards.

Unfortunately the process of earning one of these awards is way less fun than it sounds. Here's what Scouts will have to do for a belt loop:

Bioshock 2 Metro Map Pack

Don't go clicking around Xbox Live looking for new "BioShock 2" DLC this week, because you won't find it. An Xbox Live Newsbeat report last week anticipated the arrival of an 800-point download called the "Rapture Metro Map Pack." Sadly, either plans have changed or that info was just plain wrong, as some details about the pack have been clarified but its official release date has been pushed into the future.

Halo: Reach

The pros and cons of party chat have been debated ever since "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" decided to block the use of it in the majority of the game's multiplayer modes. It seems that Infinity Ward remains the only company hugely concerned about the impact of party chat, as no game since has taken the same road. "Halo: Reach" is easily the most anticipated multiplayer shooter of the year, and in a recent interview I asked the multiplayer design lead, Chris Carney, whether Bungie has any plans to prevent people from using party chat.

Cody Character Shot

Cody is one of the two "Final Fight" coin-op brawlers who appear in "Super Street Fighter 4." Despite his advanced age (his knees seem fine now, FYI), Cody can still brawl with the best, able to knock down even the mighty Zangief with his signature Criminal Upper special attack. Just don't expect to do the same against the similarly muscled Hagar -- dude still hasn't appeared in a "Street Fighter" game for whatever reason.
