The aftermath of Jason West and Vince Zampella's departure from Infinity Ward kicked off a chain reaction of accusations and lawsuits regarding "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2"-linked bonuses and insubordination. The developing story gained one more lawsuit yesterday, as 38 current and former Infinity Ward employees filed their grievances in the Los Angeles Superior Court as the Infinity Ward Employee Group. Unsurprisingly, the amount of money they're seeking is substantial.
"Activision owes my clients approximately $75 million to $125 million dollars," attorney Bruce Isaacs told G4. "Activision has withheld most of the money to force many of my people to stay, some against their will, so that they would finish the delivery of 'Modern Warfare 3.'"
The company plans on defending their re-distribution of the "Modern Warfare 2" team's bonuses and stated as much in an official response.
"Activision believes the action is without merit," an Activision spokesperson stated. "Activision retains the discretion to determine the amount and the schedule of bonus payments for 'MW2' and has acted consistent with its rights and the law at all times."
With the decreasing number of employees at Infinity Ward and the growing development roster at Respawn Entertainment, in addition to these court battles, the larger drama unfolding appears to be getting fiercer before it settles down.
