Based on the recently released "Toy Soldiers" Xbox Live Arcade game, "Match Defense: Toy Soldiers" has landed on the hallowed shores of Facebook, ready to invade millions of casual gamers' free time across the globe.
The Xbox Live release has been hailed as one of the best tower defense games available in recent years, but may have put many off due to its emphasis on strategy and forward-thinking. Players were tasked with placing and taking control of an army's most powerful weaponry, aiming to eliminate the incoming threat before it overran their base. It certainly was difficult, and rewarded those who put the time in, so this Facebook release will be a pleasure to those who prefer things a little more casual.
"Match Defense: Toy Soldiers" is more of a "Bejeweled" type release, as it tasks players with matching up as many triplets of same colored bottle caps as possible. The longer the alignment, the more force you'll unleash on enemy fortresses. Often sets of five will turn into a runway for your air support to take off from, all of which plays out on the battlefield above your ever-changing board.
It's a lot of fun, and a welcome addition to the "Toy Soldiers" series, as now even casual gamers can get in on what made the original such a success. Vitally, "Match Defense: Toy Soldiers" stands tall as a release in it's own right, and fits into the Facebook library perfectly.
