'GoldenEye' Resurrection Imminent At Activision?

Posted 4/26/10 6:00 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360

GoldenEye 007

Rumors about about a new Bizarre Creations Bond game gained some more steam this week, based on some recently registered domain names. Activision's URL choices further indicate that "James Bond: Bloodstone" may not be the only 007 title they have plans for, as BloodstoneGame.com was accompanied on their shopping list by GoldenEyeGame.com.

The domain names showed up in search results displayed over at Superannuation, and though they don't indicate what Activision plans on doing with them, they do suggest the 12-year-old franchise that Rare first breathed life into on the N64 could be due for another update.

EA released a follow-up called "GoldenEye: Rogue Agent" in 2004, which didn't garner anything near the amount of acclaim that its predecessor did. Either a another title or an Xbox Live-bound HD revamp for the original could of course be in development. A third possibility that needs to be considered is a Virtual Console release for the Wii. A lot of former N64 owners would likely be happy about that.

Then again, Activision may just be buying domain names to cover their bases for unofficial, unannounced plans that will never see the light of day. My gut tells me, as yours should be telling you, that if there's anything to this we'll find out at E3.

Would like to see "GoldenEye" re-released for the Virtual Console? Would you rather see an HD revamp for XBL? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
