Tim Tebow may have to graduate from the University of Florida, but his quarterbacking prowess will live on on the cover to EA Sports' "NCAA Football 11." Whether or not that provides consolation to him for failing to lead his team to a national championship this year, the behind-the-scenes access he got before the game's release brought out his sports gaming roots.
"As a kid, I always looked up to these guys who were on the cover of the college game, so it's a really fun experience for me just to be involved," Tebow told ESPN.
How far back does that take Tebow's old-school gaming cred? Well, he was born in 1987, so he was old enough to hold a controller before "NCAA Football" became the franchise title.
"I've been playing this game since I was 6," Tebow said. "But they made so many big changes this year, I needed to find out the secrets before it came out." That means Tebow had to have begun playing when EA Sports still called their franchise "Bill Walsh College Football" and it was only available on the SNES and Sega systems.
He didn't say in the interview if he'd beat Alabama yet or not, though.
