The days of Star Wars-loving iPhone users only being able to find an unlicensed lightsaber simulator on the App Store are long gone. THQ already had respectable titles like "Trench Runner" and "The Force Unleashed," but throughout the month of March, they rolled out an extended lineup of apps with "Star Wars: Cantina," "Star Wars: Yoda Sound Board" and "Star Wars: Lightsaber Duel," which longtime iPhone saber swingers will notice has now completely replaced their original lightsaber app.
"Our new slate of Star Wars games and apps delivers both challenging, yet casual gameplay experiences that bring Star Wars to the iPhone in a fun and amusing way," THQ Wireless VP Adam Comiskey said in a press release. "These new games add yet another level of excellence to our expansive roster of iPhone games and applications."
This new wave of apps takes a distinctly lighter tone than THQ's previous Star Wars releases. But that's probably intentional. "Cantina" is the only one that is actually a game. The other two are novelty apps. And I should note that I certainly don't intend to demean novelty apps. After all, if the iFart app can earn $40,000 in two days, just think what a Yoda soundboard will be able to do.
