Travis Touchdown's story may be over in the "No More Heroes" series, but "No More Heroes 3" could still happen without him. "No More Heroes 2" needs to provoke at least the same fan response that its predecessor received, though, in order to convince Suda51 to stick with the franchise for another round.
"I want to conclude Travis Touchdown’s story with this game," Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda told NowGamer. "But 'No More Heroes 2' is really for fans of the first one, so if I get a lot of response from the fans asking for a 'No More Heroes 3' — and as long as Rising Star make a lot of sales — then it’s possible that we could do a third game."
He compared Travis to Solid Snake, however, in praising Hideo Kojima's approach to the "Metal Gear" series, and in doing so he indicated Travis' fate belongs to the players.
"I think the reason that Kojima keeps on making Metal Gear Solid games is because he gets so many requests from his fans, and people who want to see more Snake," Suda explained. "If people sincerely want to see more Travis Touchdown, I think it’s my responsibility to meet their requests."
In other words, nothing has been ruled out yet, even if Suda has his own gameplan. Those are smart words from a savvy game-maker. Taking a break from the "No More Heroes" titles for a game or two might serve him well, though, both to expand his oeuvre and build up some suspense for a third installment.
