Warner Bros, knowing a good thing when they see one, has decided to buy a majority stake in Rocksteady Studios. You undoubtedly know Rocksteady's work as the developer of last year's Game of the Year (at least according to me), "Batman: Arkham Asylum."
The news isn't exactly a huge shock. "Arkham Asylum" did tremendously well, both critically and commercially, and a new sequel is already on the way. Also, unlike the first game, which Warner published jointly with Eidos, "Arkham Asylum 2" is going to be handled solely by Warner Bros, which probably isn't very interested in sharing the wealth of a successful franchise with its competitors.
So what does this mean for you? Well, hopefully giving the publisher more power won't cause the next "Arkham Asylum" game to be rushed to store shelves, but at the very least we can probably expect more DC franchise games to come out of Rocksteady. After they complete "Arkham 2," that is.
