The hugely popular turn-based society-building series, "Civilization," will be seeing another major release sometime in the future, as April's GamePro cover story has revealed that "Civilization 5" is on the way. This is the second "Civilization" game currently in development, as the Facebook-connected web version, "Civilization Network," is in the works as well.
Details about the game remain scarce, but it's probably the first time a press release has ever mentioned the addition of "hexagon tiles" as an exciting new feature. From the press release, here's what they're touting as the new stuff:
- The aforementioned hexagonal tiles. Score!
- New graphics engine (not pictured above).
- Native languages of famous leaders! Brush up on your Navajo!
- Ranged bombardment for indirect attacks (catapults seem likely).
Sid Meier also said some stuff about the game, but it's basically the same stuff that was said in the press release, so I'll spare you.
No release date or platforms set yet, but PC is a probable candidate.
