THQ mentioned new sequels for "Saints Row," "Red Faction" and "Darksiders" at a recent earnings call, and it sounds like they'll have more say when E3 rolls around in June. New franchise installments and Wii plans appear on the companies list of topics for the show, but their top man said that they see potential for "De Blob" on multiple platforms.
"I think we're going to blow people away at E3. You'll be seeing 'Saints Row 3.' You'll be seeing the next 'Red Faction.' You'll be seeing more of 'Homefront,'" THQ CEO Brian Farrell told IGN. "We've been talking about it, but we'll actually show some of our Warhammer 40k MMO, and I think people are going to go, 'Oh my God. They've got their stuff together.'"
2010 may be a good year for a "Saints Row" follow-up if Rockstar doesn't have a "GTA" competitor waiting in line to compete. On the subject of THQ's broader approach to publishing this year, Farrell said they've learned a thing or two about the Wii, and multiplatform options exist for "De Blob."
"At E3, we'll be unveiling a few things around Wii that are some brand extensions and you go, 'Okay, that makes sense on Wii,'" Farrell said. "De Blob" may not be one of those things -- at least exclusively -- as THQ intends on "branching it out to other platforms" as it relaunches the title in a kid-oriented initiative with SyFy.
As for anyone wondering what Volition has been up to over the last few months, it looks like we may get some answers in June.
