Don't expect Sam Raimi to immediately jump onto his "Warcraft" film just because he pulled out of "Spider-Man 4." Robert Rodat's script for the big-screen adaptation may not be ready for him yet, and even if it were, Raimi may have other priorities in mind.
"It’s in development," the film's executive producer Robert Tapert told iF Magazine. "We're in the outline/story/script phase."
That's not to say "Warcraft" won't happen soon, but Tapert definitely sounds like he wants to manage fan expectations at this point in case Raimi picks another project to tackle first. Whatever that choice may be, Tapert doesn't know what it is because Raimi hasn't told him.
"I don't want to speak on Sam's behalf, because the Spider-Man thing happened so recently," Tapert explained. "I think he's getting his feet under him and trying to decide. He might want to do a teeny, tiny small film, but I don’t know what he wants to do."
"Warcraft" was the first project on a lot of minds when Sony confirmed that Raimi would not direct their next Spidey release. "Evil Dead 4," "Sleeper" and an untitled Fede Alvarez project are all possibilities as well, though, so where each of those movies is at behind the scenes may play a role in deciding who's first in line.
