'DJ Hero 2' Existence Corroborated By Activision

Posted 1/15/10 5:15 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News

DJ Hero

"DJ Hero 2" clearly doesn't need to be kept a secret until Activision names it explicitly in a press release, and DJ David Guetta can now be considered off the hook for anything he might have spoiled by alluding to it in an interview. Thanks to "a Future Version of the Popular Music Videogame" taking up a huge share of the headline in a new Activision contest, we can probably all safely assume that "DJ Hero 2" -- or "DJ Hero: [The Inserted Subtitle]," whatever the naming system of choice may be -- is currently in the works.

"Having supported various elements of the show in previous years, in 2010 'DJ Hero' will be hosting an exclusive Listening Session, providing one lucky undiscovered musician the priceless opportunity to have their winning song mixed, mastered and featured in a future installment of 'DJ Hero,'" Activision announced in a press release today, according to Destructoid.

Activision will be hosting the contest as a part of the music festival MIDEM 2010 in France. Interested artists have been invited to submit a track via SonicBids.com before January 19th to be considered.

A jury at the festival will select a winner from those entries and some last-minute CD's dropped off there in person. That deadline is only four days away though, so if you feel like you've got a shot, it sounds like a long weekend with the recording equipment may be in your immediate future.

Do you plan on submitting something for the "DJ Hero" contest? Would you like to see a sequel this year? Sound off in the comment section below.
