Sega may not be interested in publishing any new M-rated titles for the Wii, but that hasn't swayed the minds at Platinum Games who developed last year's gore-fest "MadWorld." At least one voice in their office definitely wants to push through with a follow-up.
"I think 'MadWorld' was very well received and was acknowledged for its innovative graphical style and gameplay," the game's director Shigenori Nishikawa told Official Nintendo Magazine. "We would definitely be interested in making a sequel in the future."
It sounds like Platinum may need a new publishing partner, if that's the case, unless of course they're open to trying out a new platform. If they're open putting out a sequel on the 360 or PS3, Sega may still be a possibility, but Sega's Constantine Hantzopoulos sounded pretty convinced when he expressed doubt about M-rated Wii games and their potential to reach a big-enough audience.
Capcom at least backed down from outright condemnation of the genre-console pairing, so they could be worth a call. Ubisoft might be the best bet to keep the series on the Wii if they're interested though, since they're the ones sticking it out with the "No More Heroes" series.
Would you like to play a "MadWorld" sequel? Should Platinum try to keep it on the Wii or move to another platform? Sound off in the comment section below.
