Up until now, we all knew that "Dead Space 2" exists and that jobs have been created to work on it. We could say just a bit less for "Crysis 2." EA has gone on the record now, however, and both games now sit on their release calendar for the coming year, which ambiguously indicates that the titles will ship by March 31, 2011.
Between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011, EA plans to release "a great new version of 'Medal of Honor,' a revitalized 'Need for Speed,' 'Sims' on console, 'FIFA' in a World Cup year, an innovative and new take on 'Madden,' 'Dead Space 2,' 'Crysis'... an MMA game, and many others," CEO John Riccitiello told investors during a conference call last night, according to CVG.
This news will surely be welcomed by fans of both series, though just contemplating a new "Crysis" game in 2011 makes me look at my desktop computer and wonder if the hardware necessary to play it smoothly even exists yet.
Criterion's new "Need for Speed" game is also a notable announcement coming out of the call. Seeing "NBA Jam" mentioned on that list would have been the real clincher for me, but I'm sure its absence doesn't mean EA can't still get it out in 2010.
