Nintendo Planning For New 'Zelda' In 2010

Posted 1/6/10 5:00 pm EST by Brian Warmoth in News, Wii

Zelda Wii

So far we know that Nintendo's next Zelda game for the Wii will feature flying, probably premiere at E3 this year and will not be a "Link's Crossbow Training" sequel. In addition to being formally introduced at E3 in 2010, however, the game may also make its way to stores before the year concludes.

The unnamed Zelda title will go on sale in Japan and/or North America this year, according to the Asashi Shimbun, whose interview with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was translated by Kotaku.

Both Shigeru Miyamoto and producer Eiji Aonuma have gone on record saying that they want to show off their new Zelda creation at E3 in June, and Nintendo will need to have something on display by then if they plan on releasing the game within the next 6-7 months. Granted, plans and calendars can always change, but all signs now point to a major Zelda presentation this summer as far as the company's internal schedules are concerned. Presuming that they all stay the course, a "Twilight Princess" sequel will be on a lot of holiday wish-lists next December.

Do you want to see a new Zelda game before the end of 2010? Is there anything you'd like to see Nintendo improve upon from "Twilight Princess"? Share your suggestions in the comment section below.
