Mega Man 10

Capcom took significant risks when it launched "Mega Man 9" last year for WiiWare, but the warm reception that one of the hardest Mega Man games of all time received provided enough incentive to go the same route for the newly announced "Mega Man 10." The downloadable release, which is not to be confused with "Mega Man X," sounds like it will come with plenty of standard offerings and few innovations.

Sony Motion Controller

EA's CEO John Riccitiello may have spoken prematurely at UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference in New York Wednesday when he proclaimed that "Natal and Gem, these are likely to bring new consumers into the marketplace." Though Microsoft has publicly attached the name Project Natal to its forthcoming motion control system, Sony has been somewhat cagier. In response to the reveal, however, the company has revealed the Gem may not be the final name given to its magic wand.

Borderlands

Just completed a lightning round phone interview with Gearbox regarding the next DLC pack of "Borderlands," entitled "Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot." The initial press release mentioned a focus on arena-based play, and, based on the few arena quests that were in the original release, I didn't think that sounded tremendously interesting. Gearbox's Jon Hemingway, the designer on the next DLC pack, was happy to clarify just what we can expect.

Mass Effect 2

Bioware may want "Mass Effect 2" to feel like "The Empire Strikes Back," but the game's casting choices pull from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Battlestar Galactica." Former Klingon Michael Dorn and "BSG" stars Michael Hogan and Tricia Helfer will join big-name actors Martin Sheen and Seth Green in the sequel, rounding off an impressive lineup.

Pac-Man Championship Edition

One of the best revamps of a franchise was "Pac-Man Championship Edition" on XBLA. The release managed to revive interest in a property that had long been relegated to mere nostalgia enjoyment, revamping the graphics and gameplay for the 21st century. And now it's on iPhone.

Halo 3: ODST

"Halo 3: ODST" managed to become a fairly successful extension of "Halo 3," despite not starring Master Chief. In addition to the game's disc read error complaints, though, it caught some flack from critics for its price point and level design in some places. Bungie took that feedback on the chin, though, and explained what they would differently if given a second chance.

So it's been 8 months since "Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars" released on the Nintendo DS, and, despite critical acclaim, the sales still haven't picked up. I spoke with Cammie Dunaway, the EVP of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America, about why she thought the game didn't come close to the numbers you'd expect from a "GTA" title. For her it's a simple case of marketing, and that not enough long-term marketing support was placed on the title. You can check out the clip from the interview above.
