After years with somewhat forgettable mobile titles, Gameloft seems to have come into its own on the iPhone, releasing a handful of solid titles like "Dungeon Hunter," "Blades of Fury," "Modern Combat: Sandstorm," "Gangstar: West Coast Hustle" and "Hero of Sparta." Granted about half of their iPhone catalog consists of blatant knock-offs of popular franchises ("Diablo," "Soul Calibur," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" and "God of War," respectively), but they're well-made knock-offs, nonetheless.

We have a new leader in the on-going "Big Buck Safari" tournament in the office. You may recall some of the past participants, but it seems that being a villain on "The Hills" gives you an edge when it comes to shooting digital animals in the face, as Spencer Pratt has taken the top score with 5,144 in a round.

Zhu Zhu Pets, a line of robotic hamster toys that are making a run at becoming the the 2009 holidays season's Tickle Me Elmo, will be getting a shot at the video game market as well. Activision and Cepia, LLC, the St. Louis-based toy-maker responsible for Zhu Zhus, have announced that they plan to target the DS in 2010 for the toys' debut.

Zachary Quinto won't reprise his role as Spock from 2009's "Stark Trek" in Cryptic Studios' 2010 MMO "Star Trek Online," but he will voice act for an Emergency Medical Hologram and the game's tutorial. The actor who first rose to prominence for his role as Sylar on NBC's "Heroes," revealed his new Trek job at Spike's Video Game Awards over the weekend, and Atari has reportedly confirmed the news.

Wii HD upgrade, but they have a great lineup of potential names trademarked if they ever change their mind. Trademarks filed in Japan don't explain exactly what the names Zii, Cii, Bii, Oii and Yii are going to be used for, but Nintendo owns them, and can put them on the shelf or attach any one of them to the unannounced game system or peripheral of their choosing.

I got my first look at "Red Dead Redemption" back in June and I came away with a distinct feeling of "Grand Theft Horse." Now, with an updated look at the game, the same appears true. That isn't meant to be derogatory, it's just accurate. If you take the gameplay mechanics of "Grand Theft Auto" and moved them into the Wild West, the end result would be "Red Dead Redemption." Let's take a look at the similarities, shall we?

When ZeniMax (parent company of Bethesda Softworks) acquired Id Software back in June, it was a little strange. After all, EA was still planning on publishing "RAGE," the next major release from the "DOOM" developer, and the acquisition wasn't going to change that.
Well, it seems like it has, as ZeniMax will now be publishing "RAGE" under Bethesda Softworks, basically severing any remaining ties that Id had with EA. It's probably a smart move, given that Id Software games don't exactly come around too often, and for such a major release, you kinda want to reap the rewards yourself, rather than fund a competitor.

If you've watched the teaser trailer for "Batman: Arkham Asylum 2," you may have noticed a few brief hints at some of the villains that'll be appearing in the much anticipated sequel. Well, here's the rundown, and unless Warner and Rocksteady are really trying to throw us off the trail, we fully expect each and every one to have an important role in the sequel:

Last week's "Mega Man 10" and Sheep Man unveiling didn't detail when the game would arrive on WiiWare, but Nintendo filled in the blanks today with their comprehensive list of Wii and DS titles for early 2010. The 8-bit-styled sequel to "Mega Man 9" now has a March launch date to look forward to in WiiWare Q1 that also has Capcom slated to make "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" available.

The last "Prince of Persia" game was pretty divisive. It was undeniably easy and accessible, even to non-gamers, which created something of a rift within the community. Fans of the "Sands of Time" trilogy were disappointed to learn that they could complete the latest adventure with just the occasional button press.
