Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

Grand pappy Snake's next portable adventure, "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker," is meant to be a full sequel to "Metal Gear Solid 3," with traditional "MGS"-style gameplay, unlike "Portable Ops." But don't take my word for it. Konami is releasing a demo for the game on PSN today, allowing folks to get a taste of the title on their PSPs before the release in 2010.

So yeah, go take a look. Just try to avoid those pesky time paradoxes.

Hoth

The Hoth level previously exclusive to the "Ultimate Sith Edition" of "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed," appears to be getting significantly less rare, as it's now listed in the "Coming Soon" section of the Xbox Live Marketplace. The "Tatooine Mission Pack" has already been available for download on the XBLM for 800 Microsoft Points ($10), but LucasArts has kept the Hoth off until now.

PS3 Motion Controller

Sony doesn't seem to have any qualms about setting a high bar for its new motion technology peripherals, which may or may not be called "Gem." The PS3 motion controller still hasn't been officially explained, but the company believes they have a game-changer on their hands that will out-perform the Wii and Project Natal.

Square Enix wants gamers to hang on to their copies of "Final Fantasy XIII" now that it's on the market in Japan, and its release came with a cryptic prediction that could indicate plans for downloadable content. There are a few different ways to interpret the company's non-committal nudge to consumers, but their hint definitely leaves the DLC doors wide open.

Splinter Cell Conviction

"Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory" had some fantastic multiplayer modes, and it looks like "Splinter Cell: Conviction" will be taking a nod from that game in terms of the co-op. Ubisoft has released info on the mode, as well as a trailer, and it is looking decidedly excellent.

One Piece: Project Jet

Details are thin, but Namco Bandai has posted a tease-reveal for a brand new "One Piece" game headed to the DS. "One Piece: Project Jet" will be the name of the new title, which Japanese-speaking readers can feel free to pick apart based on scant details on its official website. Two "One Piece: Unlimited Cruise" games based on the manga/anime series have appeared for the Wii, but "Project Jet" would be the second big stab for the franchise on Nintendo's portable platform -- the first being the Japan-only "One Piece: Gear Spirit."

BioShock 2

Those who haven't been following the progress of "BioShock 2" may be surprised to learn that the above image, created by Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell, depicts the protagonist of the game. Yes, you are a Big Daddy, and your nemesis is one Sophia Lamb, who has taken control of Rapture after the fall of Andrew Ryan. Andrew Ryan's motivations were so crucial to understanding the underwater world of Rapture, but Sophia Lamb's philosophies take center stage in "BioShock 2," so I want to make sure you guys understand where she's coming from. Thankfully, Hogarth De La Plante, who worked on the original "BioShock" and is now the lead environmental artist for "BioShock 2," was more than happy to discuss just what makes Lamb tick. In his words:

The Declining Value Of Game Collecting

As new games get announced every week, most gamers rejoice when old school games from their youth are re-released on updated platforms so they can enjoy them all over again. However, there's one group that takes a deep breath as they read each and every game announcement, hoping not to see certain titles appear; classic games that they already own, and have invested in. This is the anxious life of a video game collector; a certain sect of gamers that value video games so much that they invest huge sums of money into amassing valuable games.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

A new software modification seems to be spreading virally throughout "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" online play for the Xbox 360, and the Internet buzz about it resembles the type of thing you'd hear around a high school with an STD outbreak. In what amounts to a virus being spread over Xbox Live, players are reporting that they joined a private match only to emerge with unlimited ammo and nonexistent reloading times. To make matters worse, they can carry the infection on to other players as they move on to new matches.
