"Command & Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight" has already kicked off a countdown to its March 16th release date, but the game's website is now teasing an additional launch for 2010. An announcement from the the series' official newsletter words itself cryptically, revealing only that "Command & Conquer" will be coming to a new medium next year. The accompanying artwork, however, looks suspiciously like a comic book page and bears a striking resemblance to the style of acclaimed comics artist Paul Pope. There's no signature attached, but the haphazard Tiberium crystals thrusting out of a recognizable London scene look like they could be his handiwork.
"Early 2010 will also bring you a new medium never created for the C&C franchise before, until now," reads the post on CommandandConquer.com.
Whether or not Pope is the one behind this illustration, there's no way of telling for sure if the art will be bound for a paper comic book or something else such as a motion comic on iTunes or webcomic like writer Andy Diggle made for "Bionic Commando." And even if Pope did draw the image, his creations have shown up in magazines and on clothing from DKNY, so he's by no means beholden to comics.
It's a little late to be unveiling a "Command & Conquer" movie, though, if the mystery release will be appearing in early 2010, though, so wise betters should put their money on a comic of some kind.
