Epic knows a thing or two about getting the most graphical power out of a device. After all, "Gear of War 2" remains one of the best looking games on the 360, and we're a year out from its release.
Seems like the developer is moving on to handheld pastures next, as they've already got Unreal Engine 3 up and running on an iPhone 3GS and a 3rd generation iPod Touch. Granted, the video below isn't exactly impressive, featuring a simple room with some columns and a gun, but if the folks at Epic open the floodgates by releasing an iPhone-happy version of the engine, I can only imagine what the throngs of iPhone developers will come up with. Assuming, of course, that they can afford the license.
