The fate of the next "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" sequel from Ubisoft has been in a state of uncertainty hit by delays over the last year, with "Ghost Recon Predator" getting announced, but likely pushed back into late 2010 or 2011. Though a new trademark filed by Ubisoft may have everything or nothing at all to do with that project, it has definitely introduced the title "Ghost Recon Future Soldier" into the speculation crossfire.
A trademark for "Ghost Recon Future Soldier" was filed on December 14, 2009, according to the USPTO website. The entry contains no further information beyond Ubisoft's ownership of the application and its status as it relates to video games.
"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2" was the last release in the series, back in 2007, and it still has just as many words as it did when it premiered. "Future Solider' could be anything from another sequel to an iPhone game or DLC for "Predator." It could also be nothing, but Ubisoft has claimed it, so we can all talk amongst ourselves about it until there is an official clarification.
