A new software modification seems to be spreading virally throughout "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" online play for the Xbox 360, and the Internet buzz about it resembles the type of thing you'd hear around a high school with an STD outbreak. In what amounts to a virus being spread over Xbox Live, players are reporting that they joined a private match only to emerge with unlimited ammo and nonexistent reloading times. To make matters worse, they can carry the infection on to other players as they move on to new matches.
"It's being addressed. I'll keep you posted on it," Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling posted on his Twitter account. Patches for the game are reportedly in the works, and he asked players to stand by for information.
"It'll be posted on the forums in the new Status Update forum at the top," Bowling wrote. "I'll link to it here though so you know when it's posted."
Right now, the only "cure" for the condition appears to be to disconnect from Xbox Live and reboot your Xbox 360, according to Kotaku. That's going to seem obnoxious in the meantime for gamers contracting the bug, but the reset sounds like it resolves the matter.
