Capcom took significant risks when it launched "Mega Man 9" last year for WiiWare, but the warm reception that one of the hardest Mega Man games of all time received provided enough incentive to go the same route for the newly announced "Mega Man 10." The downloadable release, which is not to be confused with "Mega Man X," sounds like it will come with plenty of standard offerings and few innovations.
The retro-styled sequel will bring back Proto Man and a pile of new robot masters, including a woolly blob named Sheep Man, according to Nintendo Power. The Blue Bomber's mission in the new game will be to track down parts of a vaccine-making device in a quest to cure ailing robots of a condition called Robotenza.
In addition to Mega Man and Proto Man there will be a yet-to-be-named third playable character. Capcom has also added an Easy mode, presumably as a response to the difficulty complaints many players had about the series' last installment.
"Mega Man 9" had some absolutely devious level designs, and it sounds like there will be more of the same available this time around.
